2018 fifa world cup

I worked on developing Telemundo’s look and feel for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The objective was to create materials promoting the Spanish language broadcast of the event.

For the overall design, I wanted to reference the rich history of soccer, so I created a vintage vibe. Throughout the materials, I treated the photos with line screens and distressed patterns and edges to create a dynamic texture. Because the players were the main focus for these posters, I made them the heroes of the page. I also silhouetted each player to create the same vintage feel as the more generic soccer posters. Since this is the World Cup and pride of country is of utmost importance, I chose to use a color palette based on the flag of each player’s country. To further emphasize the player’s homeland, I added a photo of a landmark or cultural icon from their respective country.
